Weapon Forms: HeartBreaker
A downloadable Supplement
Dungeons and dragons has had skill systems for most of its history. As I played more and more of the 5th edition, I realized that several character systems were functioning just like the skill system, but without any of the ease-of-use or interoperability.
Rogues make great use of the Expertise feature, allowing them to double their proficiency bonus for certain skills. Why can't the fighter do that? The proficiency and attack bonus setup is exactly what is used for skills, but they separate the language and base everything around the 3 types of rolls, so I decided to change that.
It took me a while to figure it out, but now it's here. The weapons are broken down into groupings, some of them overlapping, naturally, and each grouping has an associated skill. Just as with the rest of this project, I have laboured to add a bit more "medieval" to the whole thing, so some names are changed, some functions manipulated, and I even added some stuff that I thought was missing.
To top it all off, I have added a plethora of medieval public domain artwork, all sourced and with proper citations. I originally investigated this artwork because I have no money, but the more I looked at it, the more of the mountains I sifted through, I realized that the old artwork is beautiful. It is unique and inspiring and captivating, and now I want to include it because it is a way to bring the old into the new, and to help set the tone.
I hope you enjoy.
